Arundel Elementary/Middle School is a public coed school in Baltimore, Maryland. It has 418 students in grades PK and K-8. According to state standards, 60% of students at this school are considered proficient in math and/or reading.
Meet the Reading Partners team
Tyresha Cooper is the site coordinator at Arundel Elementary/Middle School. She runs the reading center and will be your go-to source for any questions you may have during your time as a reading partner. She is always available during your tutoring session to share tips and tricks, review lessons, and help keep your student on track.

Site Coordinator
Tyresha (Ty) Cooper is the AmeriCorps Member Site Coordinator at Arundel Elementary/Middle School from Baltimore, MD. She studied Early Childhood Education, and hopes to finish school soon with her bachelor's degree. She aspires to be a teacher one day or to open a daycare/learning center. She believes that all children are capable of learning and are able to reach their highest potential once given opportunities and proper support.
Erin Duffie
Literacy Lead
Erin has over ten years vested in youth, literacy, sports, and education. She has worked in several school districts, including District of Columbia, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, and Baltimore City. She has had various roles in different settings, including but not limited to assistant director, educational aide, administrative assistant, head basketball coach, assistant football coach, and long-term substitute. Her long-term goal is to raise awareness of the importance of academics to student athletes.
Pam Bennett
Regional Site Coordinator
Pam Bennett is a Senior AmeriCorps Member Regional Site Coordinator from Silver Spring, MD. She spent her first year of service with Reading Partners as the Site Coordinator at Abbottston Elementary. When she is not working with students to discover the joys of reading, she works with color guard groups that range from third grade students to college level. Overall, she is dedicated to helping students and is delighted to be a part of the Reading Partners puzzle.
Shannon Held
Program Manager
Shannon Held is the program manager supporting Arundel Elementary, and is thrilled to contribute to the Reading Partners team. After completing her bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, she served as a Teach For America Corps Member teaching elementary literacy in Miami, Florida. Teaching third and fourth grades, she saw the direct and powerful impact that building skills and confidence in reading had on students. During her time in the classroom, she mentored and coached new teachers as a literacy content leader and a Corps Member Advisor. Shannon completed her master's in education from Johns Hopkins University and continues to strengthen her passion for literacy through service to students in Baltimore City.
